Glazed Internal Doors
When choosing doors, there are often situations which would benefit from the addition of a glazed internal door. To maintain a design theme within a project, most door designs have glazed versions that match with their solid counterparts.
Why use glazed internal doors?
Glazed doors like the J B Kind Empire Burma glazed internal door, are used to fulfil an assortment of purposes. Sometimes they are used to enable the passage of light into dark areas or rooms which do not benefit from natural daylight from a nearby window. They may be used as a focal point within a room whereby the door becomes a framework to the glass itself which may be a decorative feature in its own right. As clear glazed doors, they are often used merely as a means of dividing a space into more manageable rooms, whilst at the same time keeping a clear view through to a feature that lies beyond.
This is often the case in a house where glazed doors might be used to divide a living space from a dining room. The doors would act as a division between the two rooms, but at the same time, enable a clear view through the doors not only to the room beyond but perhaps further still to an attractive patio or garden area. The inclusion of glazed internal doors within a property can create the illusion of an open space, but at the same time divide the area into practical blocks that might maintain privacy between rooms or perhaps make those areas more economical to heat.
Glazed internal door manufacture
At an individual level, glazed doors can feature almost any design of glazing to suit individual taste. More often however, the glazing is installed into the door within a factory environment, sometimes even as the door is pressed together. This avoids the need for separate beading which might be difficult to install on site. Sometimes this means that the choice of glazing is restricted but the cost is dramatically reduced particularly when compared to fitting on site
Glazed internal door options
All of these benefits may be achieved through the addition of a simple clear glazed opening within the door. It could be said that the use of clear glass renders the door itself to be anonymous as one’s line of sight passes through the door to focus on what lies beyond.
There are many types of patterned glass available in the market. Some patterns have the effect of distorting light whilst still allowing a degree of clear vision. Some are more obscure or even completely opaque such as used on the Zodiac Flush Capricorn glazed internal door, to prevent a clear view beyond. These can be used to create decorative effects, or can often be incorporated to achieve an element of privacy whilst still retaining the benefit of the passage of light.
As previously indicated, glazed doors are often used as features in their own right where the choice of glazing itself is designed to draw attention. Glass is a very versatile material and a glass panel can be assembled to include all manner of colours through the use of stains and coloured transfers, or it can be reshaped or decorated by bevelling or grooving to create stunning effects which refract the light as it passes through the glass.
J B Kind have a wide range of internal glazed doors in a variety of styles and finishes to complement any setting, contemporary or traditional.
